This Melrose, MA home received a complete heating system upgrade designed to combine the comfort of new radiant floor heating with the reliability of existing cast iron radiators.

The project centered around installing a high-efficiency Viessmann boiler to serve both low-temperature radiant floor zones and traditional high-temperature radiator zones. By carefully designing the system with proper zoning, mixing controls, and hydraulic separation, we ensured each heating method operates at its optimal temperature for maximum comfort and efficiency.

The new radiant floor heating system was installed using Viega tubing, delivering even, consistent heat across the floor surface. Radiant heating eliminates cold spots and provides superior comfort compared to forced air systems. The existing cast iron radiators were integrated into the system to maintain the home’s character while improving performance and fuel efficiency.

To ensure precise temperature management, we installed Tekmar controls, allowing independent control of radiant and radiator zones. Grundfos pumps were used for reliable circulation and proper flow balancing across all heating loops.
